The Tea Promotion Unit of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Beijing, PRC participated in the East China Tea Industry Expo 2024, held from June 7th to 10th in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China. Zhejiang Province is the second-largest tea-importing region in China, with an annual import volume ranging from 7 to 8 million kilograms, following Fujian Province.
The event primarily functioned as a business-to-consumer (B2C) platform. Tea importing agents representing the following tea exporting companies from Sri Lanka were facilitated to participate in the event free of charge:
- Imperial Tea Exports (Pvt) Ltd
- Sunshine Teas (Pvt) Ltd
- Akbar Brothers (Pvt) Ltd
- GSL Holdings (Pvt) Ltd
- Merctee International (Pvt) Ltd
The event featured the collective promotion of the Ceylon Tea brand, along with individual brands from the respective companies.
