The Embassy of Sri Lanka in China, in collaboration with the General Chamber of Commerce of China and the China Association for Small and Medium Commercial Enterprises, conducted a China–Sri Lanka Economic and Trade Dialogue on 19 August 2026 at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing.
The dialogue focused on promoting Sri Lanka EXPO 2027, Sri Lanka’s Ready to Invest Projects and investment opportunities, with the objective of further strengthening economic and commercial cooperation between Sri Lanka and China. The programme also provided a platform for Chinese enterprises to gain a better understanding of Sri Lanka’s trade, investment and business opportunities and to explore potential areas of cooperation.
The event commenced with welcome address by Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Ruvini Munidasa, followed by remarks by Vice President of the China Association for Small and Medium Commercial Enterprises Wu Yongsheng. Presentations on Sri Lanka EXPO 2027, trade opportunities and Ready to Invest Projects were delivered by Minister (Commercial) Chandima Kiriwandala, together with the Commercial Section of the Embassy, followed by presentations from participating Chinese enterprises on their key products and areas of interest for cooperation with Sri Lanka.
The Embassy highlighted the importance of strengthening business-to-business linkages, investment partnerships, technology cooperation and market opportunities between Sri Lankan and Chinese enterprises. The dialogue also provided an opportunity to promote greater participation by Chinese companies in Sri Lanka EXPO 2027 and to identify potential investment and business partnerships in Sri Lanka.
The event concluded with a networking session, enabling participating enterprises to exchange views and explore opportunities for future cooperation and business engagement between the two countries.
A delegation comprising representatives of the Association and 16 Chinese enterprises participated in the dialogue, with interests covering electronic technology, new energy, textile and clothing, agricultural product processing, culture, sports and tourism.
