Sri Lanka, represented by the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Sri Lanka in Beijing Ruvini Munidasa explored opportunities to strengthen agricultural cooperation with the Shaanxi Province, with a focus on technology, research collaboration and agricultural innovation, during participation in the 33rd Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Fair and the SCO Agricultural Expo held from 25–26 October 2026 in Yangling, China.
As part of the visit, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i addressed the Shaanxi Modern Agriculture International Cooperation Matchmaking Event highlighting the potential for enhanced cooperation between Sri Lanka and Shaanxi Province in modern agriculture, technological advancement, application of modern agricultural practices, value addition, research and knowledge exchange.
The visit also provided an opportunity to attend the Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Fair and the SCO Agricultural Expo and engage with a number of Chinese enterprises specializing in smart agriculture technologies, agricultural mechanisation, seed development, research to explore potential areas of collaboration.
The SCO Expo also featured a Sri Lankan stall showcasing a range of Sri Lankan products, including Ceylon Tea, semi-precious stones, handicrafts and spices, highlighting the diversity of Sri Lanka’s products to Chinese and international visitors.
The Yangling High-Tech Fair and the SCO Agriculture Expo are important platforms forpromoting agricultural innovation, international cooperation, and sustainable agricultural development and are participated by diverse stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, diplomatic envoys, researchers and private-sector enterprises.
